The Team Food & Drink

For Lunch Our tempting lunch-time menu offers a selection of classic pub dishes, which we can serve either in our Restaurant or less formally in either of our Bar areas: by the inglenook fireplace with our real log fire or the padded Settle seating. In the summer you can also choose to have lunch in our landscaped garden and enjoy the views of the Chiltern Valley and the Red Kites flying overhead.   For starters why not try a Potted Chicken Liver Parfait with Homemade Piccalilli maybe followed by a Homemade Beef Burger with Caramelized Red Onions cooked to your liking or a Platter of Smoked Fish with a Crab Salad and Tempura Prawns and to finish a selection of our Homemade Ice Creams.   Or join us on Sundays for a 2 or 3 course lunch served till 3pm.   Click here to see a sample lunch menu. In the Evening The restaurant becomes more sophisticated with white linen table clothes and soft lighting in the evening. Our small à la carte menu is packed with tried and tested dishes, which change on a regular basis so why not start your evening with Pan Fried Tiger Prawns and Chorizo Sausage with Garlic Butter or Red Lion Farm Free Range Pork and Smoked Bacon Terrine with Fig Chutney. For your main course we have a selection of fish and meat dishes that may include Fillet of Sea Bass with Ginger, Garlic and Chilli Dressing or Grilled Rump of Veal with Forest Mushrooms, Curly Kale and Tarragon Cream. Drink As with our food we have locally sourced real ales from the Rebellion Brewery. We stock their IPA which is the locals' favourite and we also have their monthly guest ale available on a traditional hand pump. We also have a fine selection of wines from all over the New and Old World with many by the glass. Click here to see our current wine list.   To help lower our carbon footprint, we have introduced a "Pure" water UV and carbon water filtration system, which gives us our own water bottling facility so reducing delivery mileage of bottled water.
